The client must be able to sit, stand or
walk without assistance.
The client must be alert enough to
ride without being monitored.
The client may be accompanied
by one rider (staff or family).
The client must not require
any specialized equipment such as OXYGEN, HALOS, VENTILATORS, IMMOBILIZERS,
IV's or PUMPS. If the driver arrives on scene and the client travels with any of the above, he or she will summon an Ambulance to make the transport. Clients transporting with portable Oxygen may do so as long as the tanks are secured to the chair.
The
client may take two small bags or two average sized pieces of luggage
with them. The driver will not transport furniture, plants, or large
luggage. These items cannot be secured
and could be a source of injury should an accident or sudden stop
occur.
Transports are to be scheduled 24 Hours in advance. In
situations where pre-schedule is not possible, the Dispatcher will
ATTEMPT to work the transport into the days schedule.
The driver
cannot transfer the client to or from the bed or the chair. The staff/family
are responsible for moving/transferring the client.
The driver
cannot attempt to take the client up or down stairs, steps, or drops.
There must be a ramp, elevator, or level surface for safety.
