Metro Care Cab Service

Our Care Cab service was created to help people who are confined to a wheelchair or need help getting to and from a doctor's office, hospital, or any other medical facility.  All of our Care Cab vans are equipped to handle patients in a wheelchair, and all of our drivers are CPR and CEVO II certified.

If you wish to arrange a Care Cab transport for yourself or for a client or patient, please don't hesitate to give us a call, we'll be happy to help.   However, before you contact one of our representatives, it's important to review the following guidelines to determine if our service is right for you:

  • The client must be able to sit, stand, or walk without assistance
  • The client must be alert enough to ride without being monitored
  • The client may be accompanied by one rider (staff or family)
  • The client must not require any specialized equipment such as OXYGEN, HALOS, VENTILATORS, IMMOBILIZERS, IV's, or PUMPS.  If the driver arrives on scene and the client travels with any of the above, he or she will summon an ambulance to make the transport. Clients transporting with portable oxygen may do so as long as the tanks are secured to the chair.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • The client may bring two small bags or two average sized pieces of luggage with them. The driver will not transport furniture, plants, or large luggage. These items cannot be secured and could cause injury in the event of an accident or sudden stop.
  • Transports are to be scheduled 24 hours in advance. In situations where pre-schedule is not possible, the dispatcher will ATTEMPT to work the transport into the days schedule.
  • The driver cannot transfer the client to or from the bed or the chair. The staff and/or family are responsible for moving/transferring the client.
  • The driver cannot attempt to take the client up or down stairs, steps, or drops. There must be a ramp, elevator, or level surface for safety.
